Financial Recipients 2007
Proceeds go to good cause
The support for the inaugural HSBC Round the Bays fun run was outstanding, with participants in the 2007 event collectively raising more than $200,000 for charity.
Some of the money raised from HSBC Round the Bays is donated to the Gifted Kids Programme in support of their educational and development programmes for intellectually talented youth from disadvantaged backgrounds in New Zealand.
The Gifted Kids Programme, established in 2000, provides support and learning opportunities for talented and academically advanced children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The 2007 HSBC Round the Bays donated NZ$75,000 in support of the Gifted Kids Programme and look forward to continuing this support in 2008.
We thank everyone that was involved in 2007, and look forward to your support again this year.

Other recipients
Jump Rope for Health
The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand's Jump Rope for Heart programme has helped more than a million children since it began in 1985. It has established itself as a leading physical education resource for schools, promoting the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles to primary and intermediate-aged students, as they learn age-appropriate skipping and movement skills.
Riding for the Disabled
Riding for the Disabled is an association of 53 member groups that offer varying services according to the needs of their riders. One of the main areas supported is horse riding for sport and recreation for people with disabilities. Riding for the Disabled caters for people of all ages who are challenged with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, paraplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, traumatic brain injury, or stroke, or have visual and hearing impairment.
National Burn Centre (Middlemore)
Middlemore's state-of-the-art National Burn Centre was opened in 2006. It provides treatment and rehabilitation for some of New Zealand's most severe burn patients. A current project seeks to make available specialised facilities for children. The treatment of burns tends to be lengthy and requires many people, including burns and plastic surgeons, physiotherapists, specialist burns nurses and counsellors who specialise in trauma. Patients need intensive treatment for wound management, infection control and rehabilitation.
