LAST CHANCE TO ENTER
Ports of Auckland Round the Bays has been an annual event in Auckland since 1972, initiated by the Auckland Joggers Club. The first run attracted 1200 participants and has now grown to be one of the world's largest fun-runs with almost 40,000 registered runners.
Today the event is a joint collaboration between the Auckland Joggers Club and Fairfax Media.
The run is 8.4km long over a flat course that follows the contours of Auckland's Waitemata Harbour. It starts in the city on Quay St and finishes on the waterfront at St Heliers Bay.
Funds raised by the 2014 event are dedicated to Radio Lollipop, Cystic Fibrosis Auckland Branch, The Hearing House, Crohnís and Colitis New Zealand, Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust, Kidsline and Fairfax First Books.
Entries will close on Saturday, March 8, 2014. No entries will be taken on event day.
†No Bib=No Run†
This year we are introducing a new concept into the Round the Bays. The 'No Bib, No Run' message promotes our new focus on runner safety and public liability for the event. The registration process in 2014 requests information on emergency contact details. This is to allow us to recruit appropriate resources for medical crew and volunteers on the day. Please ensure you keep your chest bib visible at all times during the race and urge fellow friends and family members to register early and secure their place. Those without an official race bib are asked not to compete on the day.
Plan your travel in advance and allow extra time.
As part of the on-going work to electrify Aucklandís rail network, trains will not be operating on the 8th†and 9th†of March.
Rail buses will be replacing trains, but their travel times are longer and they have limited capacity.†
If youíre looking to take Public Transport to Round the Bays, plan your travel in advance and allow extra time.
